Law alligned with technology

The Internet

When we talk about the Internet, we are talking about a network of more than 5 billion connected users that is in continuous growth, and that makes it very difficult to draw a line between material and virtual reality. Hence the importance of Internet regulation and Digital Law as the reflection of any law in the digital world.

The Internet was born to facilitate communications, so Digital Law is integrated by Telecommunications Law, which appeared just 30 years ago, to deal, among other issues, with regulating legal aspects related to consumers and users, and to establish competition rules to avoid the dominance of a single operator. But the Internet also allows the use of different services and applications, and this is where conflicts of various kinds arise: commercial, civil, criminal, fiscal, administrative, etc., which ultimately affect the fundamental rights of individuals and companies.

The new technologies

If we talk about IT & Digital Law, we must necessarily refer to disruptive technologies whose main characteristic is their constant evolution. The list of these technologies grows every year, although we can highlight four that -at the present time- occupy especially the attention of the market.

Big Data

Technology that allows information to be processed in large volumes and interrelated with each other, responsible for tracking profiles tracking people online, targeted advertising, etc.

The Internet of Things (IoT)

Technology that allows us to connect online devices through sensors.

Artificial Intelligence

Technology made up of machines capable of learning and developing sufficient capacity to learn about what they have already learned.

Blockchain

Technology which consists of databases, distributed, chronologically ordered and, fundamentally, secured by codes.
